Soldiers Pass and Seven Sacred Pools

What a wonderful day!  Sedona is indescribably colorful.
Soldiers Pass Trail is only 9/10 miles and doubles back on itself to end where it begins.  Only Vic and I could spend four hours on a trail so short.
The highlights are the Seven Sacred Pools (or Seven Apache Pools, depending on what you read) and Devils Kitchen.

The beginning (or gatekeeper)

The Jeeps in the distance are parked at the Seven Sacred Pools.
Note the two white layers of rock.  It is not paint.

The first three of the pools - the first is a very small one center right in the photo.

Pools 3, 4 and 5.

Folks flock to Sedona to see the Red Rock Country.  Many take guided Jeep tours such as these open-backed models.

Pools 3, 4, 5 and 6.  I think the only way to photograph all 7 at once is to hover in a helicopter right above them.

We were told these are desert tree frogs.  I'm not sure that is correct.

It's spring and this guy was pretty busy trying to impress the girl.

Turn up your volume!  I don't know if his girlfriend was impressed but, I sure was.

These boys were hiking with their mom.  They really liked the frogs.  The frogs apparently weren't bothered by all the attention as they never moved.

On our way to Devils Kitchen.

Vic had to turn around, come back down, then go back up this slope in reverse just for the fun of it.

Devils Kitchen is a sinkhole.  Look at the size of that chunk that broke loose!

The exit
