Moab Day #11 - Hurrah Pass & Chicken Corners

Red sandstone and strange formations were in abundance on the climb to Hurrah Pass.
Potash evaporation ponds could be seen in the distance.
A side trip to Catacomb Rock was a must. It covered an area about the size of a city block.
And wandering around the inside of just a small portion of the nooks and crannies was so much fun.
The route to Chicken Corners followed the curves of the Colorado River.
Chicken Corners
The tiny white dot up high on the cliff across is a car at Thelma and Louise Point. This is where the final scene of the movie by the same name was filmed.
This was an out and back trail so we had a return view of Chicken Corners.
"The Birthing Rock" with petroglyphs on all sides is found just below the road.
This birthing scene is considered quite rare.
These images are believed to be Ancestral Puebloan which date from A.D. 900 to 1200/1250
Fremont petroglyphs, such as this one, date to A.D. 700 to 1200 and were very large. Often they had great detail such as feathers, horns, sashes, earrings and other body adornment.
