The plan for the day was to see if we could find the ghost town of Chise, NM.
There isn't much about it on the internet. We wanted to see for ourselves just what is there.
Along the way - spring is here!
After a few miles on the correct trail we ran into a gate for Ted Turner's Ladder Ranch NO TRESPASSING!
We then tried an alternate route and came upon this sign.
More private property -
this is owned by the Diamond Cattle Co.
Apparently Chise is surrounded by private land and there is no longer access.
There were no more alternate routes so we followed the sign to
San Miguel.
What a charming place it is with this tiny church on the hill.
The church overlooks these cultivated fields some of which are turning green.
There was also this small fruit orchard.
The cherry trees are in bloom and
others are turning green.
And along the canyon trail there was just this one flower
swaying in the breeze, of course.
A nice day brightener.
